Hurricane Cross

The “Hurricane Cross” is a piece of folklore from the Florida Keys. It’s a symbol believed to offer protection against hurricanes. Traditionally, crosses were hung outside homes as a safeguard against the destructive forces of hurricanes.

In addition to the Hurricane Cross, there are many other fascinating pieces of weather lore related to hurricanes. For example, some believe that observing animal behavior can predict hurricanes. Seagulls perching on land, sparrows taking shelter under hedges, and sharks heading to deeper waters can all indicate an impending hurricane.
